Ipswich Select Board opens warrant for September Special Town Meeting

IPSWICH — The Select Board has opened the warrant for the Special Town Meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8., at the middle/high school.

All articles from Town and school departments, boards, and committees are due in final form to the office of the Select Board no later than 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17.

Citizen petitions are also due by 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17.

In order for citizen petitions to appear on the warrant, 100 names, signatures, and addresses of registered Ipswich voters are required and must be certified by the town clerk.

Petition forms and instructions are available in the Select Board’s Town Hall office and online at ipswichma.gov/townmeeting.

This Special Town Meeting was called for the specific purpose of reconsidering additional funding for the public safety facility project. In order to pass, the article will require two-thirds majority support on Sept. 8 and a simple majority in a subsequent ballot vote on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

The Select Board will hold a public hearing on the warrant on Monday, August 10.
