IPSWICH — Town Manager Robin Crosbie has announced her retirement a little over five years after she started working for the Town of Ipswich.
Her last day on the job will be Feb. 2, 2018.
Crosbie started working in Ipswich on Aug. 1, 2012. She came to the town from Longmeadow, where she served as town manager since 2006.
The announcement was made at Monday’s selectmen’s meeting.
Letter to Selectmen
The following letter was sent to the Ipswich Board of Selectmen.
August 7, 2017
To the Ipswich Board of Selectmen,
Tonight I announce that I will be retiring in early 2018. My last day in my office will be February 2, 2018, after which I will be taking vacation leave until my retirement date, which will be in March. This is a decision I made earlier this year and discussed with Chairman Craft.
I am providing this early notice so that the Board has sufficient time to organize and conduct an appropriate search for a successor.
I will be able to deliver a draft budget to the Board in January, as well as a completed capital plan, so the budget process will be largely completed before I leave. I also expect to have a draft warrant to the Board before I leave.
I thank this and former Boards of Selectmen for giving me the privilege of serving Ipswich. This community was so welcoming to me and I will never forget that.
I thank the many volunteers who are the heart and soul of public service in Ipswich. Their commitment and involvement in their community is a wonderful thing.
I thank the employees, who work daily to maintain and improve services to the residents. Their work never ends, and there is never enough praise for the repetitive, difficult and frequently dirty and dangerous work they perform.
Finally, I thank the Department Directors, whose professionalism and commitment to public service is evident every day. I commend their leadership of their employees, their daily efforts to improve services and plan for the future, and their patient responsiveness to the many requests from citizens, Selectmen, boards and committees, and the Town Manager.
